House GOP Loses Its Mind After Maxwell Frost Calls Trump a “Grifter” and Mocks Elon Musk
Since when did telling the truth become a congressional crime?
You’d think the House Oversight Committee had bigger things to worry about, but no—Tuesday’s hearing turned into a full-blown meltdown after Rep. Maxwell Frost dared to utter the unspeakable: Donald Trump is a grifter.
Cue Republican outrage.
The 28-year-old Florida Democrat came in swinging, calling out “Grifter-in-Chief” Trump and “President Musk” for their habit of using public office to line their own pockets—a statement that, while deeply factual, sent Committee Chair James Comer into a full-body spasm.
THE MOMENT COMER LOST HIS SOUL (IF HE HAD ONE)
“Do you want to revise your remark?” Comer asked, trying to force a walk-back.
Frost doubled down. “I’ll say ‘President Musk’ and ‘Grifter-in-Chief Trump,’” he shot back.
House Republicans: 🤯🤯🤯
Comer—who suddenly decided decorum was very important, apparently oblivious to the fact that his own President has lived 78 years devoid of any at all—warned Frost that his words were “not parliamentary” and, if he kept it up, he’d be physically removed from the hearing. Because, apparently, the real crime in Congress isn’t fraud, corruption, or billionaires running government agencies into the ground—it’s hurting Donald Trump’s fragile feelings.
WHEN FACTS BECOME FORBIDDEN
Frost refused to back down. His words were officially erased from the congressional record.
A sitting congressman was silenced for pointing out what everyone can see: Trump is openly selling crypto and grifting his followers, all while his pal Musk is using his empire of self-driving vaporware and moderation-free social media chaos to prop up the very same scam.
Former Senator Claire McCaskill went on Morning Joe Wednesday morning, shocked at the lengths House Republicans were willing to go to protect Trump from, well, reality.
“What they’re saying is, if you criticize the president of the United States as an elected member of Congress, we will silence you,” she said. “That’s a really good way to lose the midterms.”
THE INTERNET RESPONDS
Social media wasn’t having it.
One user summed it up:
“If Rep. Maxwell Frost can’t call out Trump’s grifting in a committee meeting without Comer threatening to sic the House Sergeant at Arms on him, we’re not just sliding down a slippery slope—we’re doing a full-on belly flop into authoritarian quicksand.”
Frost himself clapped back on X:
“James Comer can hide behind the Sergeant in Arms and try to have me removed, arrested, and silenced. But that’s not going to stop me from calling out Donald Trump’s grift and his bullsh-t.”
The only real question here: Since when did telling the truth become a congressional crime?
